A lot can happen in a year... It's been almost a year since I signed up for dA again... and it's been a rough year. Losing my grandmother was devastating, and I still have very, very hard days... days when all I want to do is call her for advice, but it's an impossibility. My three daughters have grown so much... Elizabeth (age: 4) will be starting school for sure next month, a trial I am sure will be entirely bittersweet for me. Katherine (alias: Kitty, Kat, Kitty Kat; age: 3) may or may not be going to preschool with her older sister, and she's going through screening to determine whether or not she'll be allowed to go to school this Fall

The past two weeks have probably been the worst of my entire life. It's not easy to lose someone you love. My stepfather died in 2006, and I didn't even know he was ill. We got the call within 24 hours of him being gone that anything was wrong. He had liver cancer, lung cancer and a tumor on his brain. He was given 2 weeks to live, and didn't make it that long, the cancer was so progressed. From August 2008- August 17, 2010, my grandmother had been fighting her own bouts of cancer. The past several years, I have been on & off DevArt, and a lot has changed in my life. Break-ups, reunions, marriage, children, living away from my hometown... I find myself significantly different, both for the better and some for the worse. I am a mother, a more responsible and mature person, but I have lost some of the things I loved: freedom to go when & where I wanted without worry is among them, and at the moment, one of the things I miss most is my expression: my art, my writings.
